Discussion questions to help you unpack the message with others.
  1. In just a few days, many of us will be sharing Christmas gifts with loved ones. Share the story behind the strangest or most memorable gift you have ever received.

  2. Read Luke 2:6-7. Jesus was born with a humble beginning in a barn and what was most likely a horse trough. How does this choice of entry impact your view of Jesus as Lord?

  3. Read Isaiah 66:1-2. God chooses his home to be in us, not in elaborate buildings like other kings. Now, we all have those closets we throw stuff in right before guests come, or rooms we don’t want them to see. How can our lives be more of an inviting home for Jesus to live in, maybe even in those places we don’t want to let him in?

  4. Read Matthew 11:28-30. Jesus is a Lord who wants the best for you. He promises good things, and he’s ready when we want to invite him in. Identify one way you can invite Jesus to be Lord this week and share what you’ll do with the group.

  5. Close your time taking turns praying for each other, or read this over the group. “Jesus, we invite you to come into our lives today. We welcome you into every part of our hearts and our lives, mess and all. You are Lord unlike any other, and we can trust you as we follow you. Amen.

New around here? We'd love to connect

“All you do is just take, take, take.” Ever felt that? Maybe you’ve said to an ex, wanted to say it to a boss, or feel like that's just how life is. It’s true though—the authorities and powers of the world we live in are built around what they can take. Yet according to the Bible, Jesus came to be a very different sort of Lord—one that gives and restores. Join us today as Kyle talks about how Jesus came to be a Lord that restores us.
